Solstice

The Solstice is a Terra-class saber designed for use by the Imperial Guard of Sector 9 to escort senators and even the Emperor himself. With its armored body and shielded emitter, the Solstice is far more robust than your average saber as well as being much more ornate. The looks of this saber conveys its wielder's status in the Imperium to all who behold it. The armor gives the saber's body superb grip and the emitter shield provides a ready choke point for the controlling hand. The Imperial Guard are among the best saber duelists in the Imperium and the Solstice is a perfect compliment to their skill.

The Imperial Guard of Sector 9 are a living contradiction. They are easily the most publicly visible order of force wielders in the galaxy. Holonets across the Imperium show their images vigilantly patrolling the capital world and escorting diplomats, dignitaries, and of course the Emperor himself. Any citizen of the Imperium can go to the capital world of Arro'Fon and see Imperial Guardsmen at their post. Yet as visible as they are, barely anything is known about them. In fact, keeping the secrets of their order is considered just as important as protecting the life of the Emperor they serve.

What we do know is that the Imperial Guard is an order who's vows are taken for life. Only death absolves them of their sacred trust. Since they operate in the very heart of Imperial power, it is inevitable that those trusted with its defense will overhear... well, pretty much everything. A wise man once said, the contents of a man's letters are more valuable than the contents of his purse. Likewise, a man's secrets can be just as powerful a weapon against him as any blade. The guard take their Emperor's secrets with them to the grave. This is why the Imperial Guard serve for life and why their entire order, from the way they are recruited to their initiation rites, are ever shrouded in secrecy. We only know of their vow because it is literally carved into stone outside their Order Hall.
