Where a base-lit saber glows from a single light source in the hilt, a Crimson Neocore blade is lit along its entire length by a strip of individually-controlled LEDs. That's what makes the effects you see in films possible on a saber you can actually own and duel with: a blade that ignites and retracts from tip to hilt, changes to virtually any color on demand, flashes white on impact, and reacts to every swing with sound.

Base-lit vs. Crimson Neocore — what's the real difference?

Both are excellent. The right one depends on your budget and how you plan to use it.

Base-lit blade

A single high-power LED sits in the hilt and shines up a diffused blade. It's bright, durable, affordable, and duel-ready — the perfect entry point. What it doesn't do is animate along the blade: no scrolling ignition, no per-section effects, no on-blade color blending.

Crimson Neocore blade

Individually-addressable LEDs run the full length of the blade, so the light is generated in the blade itself. That unlocks:

• Scrolling ignition & retraction — the blade powers on from the hilt outward and powers off in reverse, just like on screen.
• Infinite color — switch between virtually any color in the spectrum from the hilt controls; no swapping parts.
• Flash-on-clash — the blade flashes bright white at the point of impact when you strike or block.
• Blade effects — unstable/"crackle," pulse, rainbow, and more, depending on the sound font loaded.
