Description:

This is the Crimson Dawn version of the legendary Clan Vizsla Darksaber. Tough, dark, and born for battle.

Unlike the Darksaber inspired by House Wren, this replica resembles ancient drawings of the weapon used by Clan Vizsla. As such, it does not use a standard saber blade. Instead it uses a Darksaber blade, which has a rectangular base, is solid, flat, and only illuminates on the edges of the blade. The hilt itself is also more angular and roughly 5% larger than its House Wren cousin.

It is important to note that Darksabers don't have a traditional cylindrical shape. Much like the ancient vibro-swords that were this weapon's contemporary, it is built with a rectangular body. Also a feature of weapons from this time period is a cortosis-weave crossguard which enables it to block a lightsaber blade. This offers excellent protection for the hand. However, this also means the crossguard has right angles, so a little care must be made while wielding it so you don't scratch yourself on a corner.

Please keep in mind, this saber comes with a Polycarbonate Darksaber blade which is considerably stronger than a normal saber blade. Being a solid half inch thick, "duel worthy" is an understatement. You can, in fact, damage the blades of other saber wielders and can inflict great bodily harm upon anyone you strike with this blade. This saber is not to be used by careless individuals.

Lore:
"A black saber blade? Nonsense.  How would that even be possible?"
-Commander Guldar Heel

While House Wren claims possession of the Darksaber today, it was not always so. The actual history is fuzzy, but legend has it Clan Vizsla had the Darksaber thousands of years before House Wren. Several Clans and Great Houses have claimed ownership of the Darksaber throughout the eons. There is only one Darksaber that we know of, but there are various replica versions of this famous weapon based on ancient depictions. The most famous alternate version is the Vizsla style Darksaber.  Whether this is the same saber House Wren wields today is the topic of much debate with two main schools of thought.

The leading hypothesis is that the original Darksaber was created by a member of Clan Vizsla and looked slightly different upon its creation. As the saber was passed down throughout the generations, modifications and enhancements were made to the weapon, which is why the surviving artifact looks very different than the oldest drawings.

The other hypothesis follows Occam's Razor and simply postulates that those who created the earliest depictions of the Darksaber just took some artistic license, which is why drawings of the Clan Vizsla Darksaber looks different than the Darksaber sitting in the halls of House Wren.

Regardless of which camp you're in, Vizsla-styled versions of the Darksaber can still be seen setting planetary battlefields ablaze to this day.

*Please note, this is a replica version of a Darksaber. The origin of the Darksaber is a hotly debated topic. Crimson Dawn bears no allegiance to any Faction, Great House, or Clan and makes no claims of who is the rightful wielder of the Darksaber.  Our only loyalty is to our customers. Crimson Dawn has no interest in the politics of House Wren or Clan Vizsla.
