Venator

The Venator is an Invictus-class saber designed for use by crusaders of the Radiant Sphere. While most Invictus class sabers share a similar design platform, they vary depending on the needs and principles of the faction that adopts them.

The main body of the Venator features a spiral groove of contrasting silver and black to provide excellent grip, yet is still smooth enough to not require a gloved hand to wield.

The emitter is of the flanged crown design found on other sabers in this class. It combines the heat dissipation of a crown emitter with the protection of a flange.

The Venator features an Armitage style pommel. Lovingly referred to as "the faucet knob" by saber wielders, this style pommel offers counter balance as well as a rear hand stop to prevent the saber from leaving the hand unwantedly.

Among the highest responsibilities of all members of the Radiant Sphere is to fight the spread of force corruption brought on by the teachings of heresy. To this end, they commissioned their own Invictus-class saber to wage a crusade against corruption wherever it is reported.

Corruption occurs when one delves too far into the dark energies of the force, their bodies physically changed by the overwhelming power. When this corruption takes place, it is almost impossible to bring the victim back to their previous form. Those who venture down this path invariably seduce others to join them, causing the corruption to spread.

Heretics teach that the true path to ultimate power is to give one's self fully to the darkness. What is commonly known as force corruption, they call "Dark Symbiosis", and believe it is the perfect union of the force and the flesh.

Obviously the Radiant Sphere considers this an abomination and seeks to exterminate all signs of corruption with extreme prejudice. Those who have been afflicted with corruption gain incredible power and cannot be easily defeated. A saber made for heavy assault was required for this type of combat, and the Venator fit the bill.
